People comparing Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 then criticized the replay value as insane… First of all, sorry for the small talk.
I see this in every message; someone will always say “In D2 there is so much to do and so many bosses”.
Sorry what? Have you ever played in D2? Diehard D2 fans are blinded by nostalgia.
If the game were released today as a new game and not a remake, it would be criticized in almost every respect. That’s not to say that the game is bad, it’s just that it won’t be played as much by newcomers as D3, D4 or POE.
The D4 just came out, some people don’t like its style and that’s okay. It has its flaws, of course. Like any other Diablo game.
But it’s a new game with years of support in sight and a new opportunity for Blizzard to fix the bad stuff they started with Immortal.
It came out a week ago and people are acting legally as if they’ve been tricked into a ponzi scheme and are starting to protest because it’s not what they want.
People seem to forget that you’re going to be doing a specific build in D2 that can literally only occupy ONE or TWO dungeons or bosses in the entire game.
I have a FoH knight and his sole purpose is to cultivate Chaos Sanctuary. I love d2 and consider it one of the best ARPGs of all time, but if it came out today, people would go crazy over the end game ridiculousness. Players really don’t know what they want.
I’m sure the people comparing D2 to D4 haven’t really played much D2 or started in Resurrection. I have easily used D2 for over 5,000 hours since its release and I think D4 is great, both with their own problems and benefits, but argues that D4 is just more boring than D2 with microtransactions is silly.
People act as if there is no build diversity in D4 and D2, anything is possible. It’s really the same thing, of course, the mutishot area CAN kill mobs at higher P level, but it will never keep up with Java.
If you think running nightmarish high-level dungeons is more boring than spamming Pindleskin for hours on end, then you need to re-examine your mind.
I also found the story to be very good, if a bit complicated. Only complaint is personal plunder, bring back free trade.
