How to Unlock Masterworking
Complete a Run in the Pit and Obtain Obducite
The Pit is a new endgame feature located in Cerrigar. Completing a run in the Pit rewards players with legendary drops from the boss and some Murmuring Obols. However, the key reward for Masterworking is a new crafting material called Obducite.
To qualify for Masterworking, an item must have two Tempered Affixes.
Complete Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeons and Unlock the Pit
To unlock the Pit, you must first complete a Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon. These dungeons feature enemies at level 100, equivalent to the level of enemies in the first level of the Pit.
How to Use Masterworking
Spend the Materials Obtained from the Pit
To use Masterworking, visit any Blacksmith and select the last tab to access Masterworks. Choose the item you wish to upgrade from your inventory and use the materials obtained from the Pit, along with some Diablo 4 gold, to enhance your equipment. The required D4 materials for each rank vary based on your equipment’s current rank.

6 All affixes increased by 5% Ingolith x40, Rawhide x30, Veiled Crystals x8, 600,000 Gold
7 All affixes increased by 5% Ingolith x80, Rawhide x40, Veiled Crystals x10, 800,000 Gold
8 One random affix increased by 25% Ingolith x120, Rawhide x50, Veiled Crystals x15, 1,000,000 Gold

Resetting Masterworks Rank
You can reset the rank of any Masterworked equipment by clicking on the red circle next to the item. This reset process has a 100% success rate but costs 30 Iron Chunks or Raw Hide, 20 Veiled Crystals, 5 Forgotten Souls, and 5,000,000 Diablo IV gold.

Masterworks is the latest endgame feature in Diablo 4, replacing the regular equipment upgrades from the Blacksmith.
